Frequently Asqued Questions

     1) Will I get credits for subjects completed in another university if I transfer?

  Yes. Transfer credits are accepted from recognised universities, however each case is viewed on an individual basis. Transfer students will also be required to take difference exams to make up for subject credits that they have not done at their previous institute of study.

     2) Will my qualification/degree be recognised in other countries?

   YES. The degree from Romanian Universities is recognised by the WHO (in case of general Medicine). It is also recognised Internationally by various countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, South Africa, Hungary and many more. Please consult the country you intend to practice in before you apply to confirm recognition. Quite often graduates will be required to write an entrance exam/board exam for their prospective country. In the United States each state may have different legislature. All schools listed on this website are INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED.

     3) Do you offer scholarships?

   No. Scholarships are not offered by STUDENT CONSULT ROMANIA, however Romanian Government offer Schorlaships. Foreign students can apply for scholarships once they are registered with the University and provided that they have a 4.5 (90%) or higher average pass rate.

     4) Are the lessons in English and will I need to learn Romanian?

   All lectures are in English ( some Universities also offer some courses in French,German and Spanish, please enquire for details ) and Romanian is not required as a pre-requisite to apply.However students will be required to learn Romanian for their clinicals(in case of medical students) in order to interract with patients. Romanian language is offered as part of the course in the 1st 2 years of Medicine. There are also many affordable private tutors available for lessons.

     5) When does the academic year begin?

   The academic year begins in October. All applications need to be in by August. However it is advised that applicants apply as early as April/May to avoid disappointment.Quite often all available seats are taken by the end of June. Students once registered may arrive late under special circumstances.

     6) I finish grade 12 (High School) in November. Can I apply this academic year?

   It is best you apply early during the year using your previous years school results. These students may arrive in Romania as late as 20th November if special permission is given. Quite often though all seats are reserved by August/September.

     7) What are the pre-requisites to apply?

   We require all applicants to be at least 18 years of age and to have completed 12 years of grade school (High/Secondary school) with an academic result related to the course to be applied for. Students should also be fluent in English. This is all we require. No pre-med or college examination needed(in case of medical students) and No Pre/Post examination needed as well for other courses.

     8) How much are tuition fees?

   University tuition fees are 3600$ for under-graduate studies and 3800$ for postgraduate studies. STUDENT CONSULT ROMANIA charges EUR1000 for the application and seat reservation service. Please read more about this above.

     9) What are living expenses and conditions like in Romania?

   Living expenses are around 200-400EUR a month and living conditions are comfortable and very safe. The cost depends on student lifestyle. Please note

     10) Do you have a refund policy?

   Yes.  If for some reason your acceptance is not granted, we will refund 90% of your deposit back to you, no questions asked. We are very specific about this and ensure that everything done by the STUDENT CONSULT ROMANIA office is transparent and clear. If for some reason like family emergency, you cannot make the current academic year, your University will reserve your seat for you for the forthcoming academic year. 90% of tuition fees will also be refunded.

     11) How do I apply?

     12)Can I practice in the US, UK or Canada(for Medical students)?

   Yes you can, however you will need to sit for the USMLE (US), PLAB(UK) or Canadian Board Exams. Please note that you will also be required to consult your state medical board or specific country medical council to confirm the acceptance of the degree.Some states in the U.S. have different policies. Most countries allow you to sit for their board exam if the faculty is listed by the WHO.

     13) What address do I post my documents to?

   Students were required to post their documents, but recently we advise students to send us scanned copies of all the documents. This will help us to get the documents as soon as possible and save students the cost of sending the documents to us. In the past, some students were charged exorbitantly just for courier to our offices. We work in the interest of the foreign student and want to make the admission process simple.

   NB: Students are there for required to properly scan the documents and make sure the documents are as clear as possible.

     14) Who are STUDENT CONSULT ROMANIA and the International Admissions Office?

   The International Admissions office is a joint venture between Romanian Universities and an International Education Consultancy and Marketing agency (STUDENT CONSULT ROMANIA) that serves to assist students in the successful placement in Romanian Universities.

     15) What's your banking details for Application deposits and payment of fees?

   Application fees charged by STUDENT CONSULT ROMANIA for their service are payable to an Euro account. Please enquire for details upon approval of your documents.Details of the Application deposit account will also be sent to you via your e-mail address as soon as your documents are approved by STUDENT CONSULT ROMANIA. Tuition is paid directly to the University of your Choice.The Account details of the University of your Choice will be included in your acceptance letter issued by the Ministry of Education and Research of Romania.
